JetLev Water Propeled Jet Pack

Our unique training system is designed to advance your flying skills quickly and efficiently and help make your first and every Jetlev flight experience enjoyable. The basic training program for end users includes:

  • A high quality training video that can be viewed online on our website and other sites, or at a rental agency before your Jetlev flight session.
  • A radio communication system whereby your instructor can guide you through the on-water training program.
  • A remote control system whereby the instructor can take over control of your throttle at the outset while you focus on learning nozzle angle controls. When the instructor feels that you are ready, he/she can remotely hand the throttle control back to you.

The training video will show you how Jetlev works and how you can learn to master the basic skills to enjoy unassisted solo flight in as little as six minutes on the water. Some student pilots will take longer.

Hoppa two legged dog

dog prostheses

Hoppa the dog was born four years ago without his two front two legs. He was lucky enough to be adopted by Avi Kozi, chairman of Israel’s Society for the Protection of Animals. “From the moment I took him to my house, I knew I had to build something that would help him to move.” Kozi said.

Though it’s not uncommon for dogs to lose the use of their hind legs, problems with the front legs are much more uncommon. This presented a special challenge for Nir Shalom, the art student and animal lover who kindly offered to take on Hoppa’s case.

And take it on he did. Once Hoppa gets the hang of his training wheels (shown in the video below), he will then transition into one of the most advanced dog prostheses around.

New Zealand’s home-made ‘hoverwing’ flies 5 feet above water

hoverwing

Look! Down on the lake … is it a boat, a plane … it’s neither. It’s the “hoverwing”, a hovercraft that flies. New Zealand mechanic Rudy Heeman spent more than 11 years of his spare time (and tens of thousands of dollars) building the hoverwing, a wing-in-ground-effect vehicle that flies on a cushion of pressurized air created between the wing and the water’s surface. Hoverwing can reach an optimum height is 1.5m (4-5ft) above the water and has a current top speed of 98kmh (61mph).

Heeman told the The Nelson Mail that the “hoverwing”, which is almost complete, has drawn local residents from their houses and cars to watch test flights over the Haven in the town of Nelson, at the northern tip of New Zealand’s south island.

Heeman is no stranger to hovercraft – he’s built and sold them for some time. But the hoverwing is his most ambitious project. So ambitious that an early test flight resulted in a crash landing. But it wasn’t enough to deter him from completing the project.

The hoverwing is powered by a modified Subaru car engine while the body comprises most fibreglass.

Augmented Identity App Helps You Identify Strangers on the Street

By this point, we’re all familiar with augmented reality, but Swedish mobile software firm The Astonishing Tribe is taking information overload to the next logical step: augmented identity. Mashing up face recognition technology, computer vision, cloud computing, and augmented reality with the complex digital lives many of us lead on the Internet, TAT has created an app that allows you to gather information on a person and their social networking life simply by pointing your camera phone at their face.

Dubbed Recognizr, the app essentially works like this: the user points the camera at a person across the room. Face recognition software creates a 3-D model of the person’s mug and sends it across a server where it’s matched with an identity in the database. A cloud server conducts the facial recognition since and sends back the subject’s name as well as links to any social networking sites the person has provided access to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use HAL for wireless surround sound?
In order to use HAL to send surround sound information to your rear speakers, you will still need to use either an additional amplifier or a powered speaker. HAL can easily send a stereo signal wirelessly, but it is not an amplifier.

How can I increase the HAL wireless range?
HAL has a tested line-of-sight range of over 140 feet with no obstacles between the HAL Send and Receive units. Every wall, door, or other obstruction between the HAL Send and Receive units can affect the wireless range. For optimal performance it is recommended that the HAL Send or Receive units are clear of close obstructions such as stacks of CDs or books.
