Incredible Monocycle – One Wheeled Motorcycle

monocycle

Clowns can finally cruise around town in style, thanks to Liam Ferguson’s winning design for a motorbike (yes despite the headline this has two wheels, not including the stabilising wheels on the rear which would basically make this a car) that we could very well see in the future. Personally, I’m thinking  The Hornet is the perfect machine to fill in the gap between our current motorbikes and the promise of hover cars.

Apparently this thing has a turning circle of zero metres, which means that if it does get made we’ll see some hilarious youtube videos of centrifugal injuries.

Nomix European Toilet

toilet nomix

toilet nomix

If you’ve ever considered the humble urinal, you might have noticed that it uses much less water than a toilet. It only makes sense – since they don’t receive any feces, urinals don’t need all the water necessary to carry such solid waste through to the sewer line. When you use a toilet and just urinate, however, you’re still flushing away just as much water as if you, uh, went “Number 2.” If you were using a NoMix toilet, however, the Number 1 and Number 2 would go separate places, with the flushes being needed for solid waste only. It’s a good enough idea that in a recent pilot project, users in seven European countries gave the device a thumbs – or should that be bottoms? – up.

The device

The NoMix has what is essentially a urinal in the front half of the bowl, near the top. The urine runs from there to a storage tank. The back half of the bowl is like a conventional toilet, where the solid waste lands and gets flushed away.

Martin Jetpack Flying Machine

jetpack flying

Watch Video

Well, by both common usage and science it is a jet. We already have jet ski and jet boat. I do not believe that an aviation engineer will be able to convince all those owners to start calling their devices a ‘water pump propelled boats’.

In the end we found that 95% plus of people call it a jetpack when they see it, so why fight that ?

If you have a very narrow view of what a ‘true jetpack’ is (i.e. that it is a pure jet) then none have ever been built. The closest would have been the Bell jet belt, but again this was not a ‘true jet’, it was bypass ratio gas turbine powered. In fact I cannot think of any ‘true jets’ in the GA industry, most are Fanjets.

Perhaps now you see that the ‘correct answer’ is far more complicated and debatable, so much so that normally it is not worth even starting the discussion, because the ‘correct’ answer relates to opinion not fact.

Hydrofloors enable the client to exploit the surface area of a swimming pool

hydrofloor Hydrofloors enable the client to exploit the surface area of a swimming pool

Hydrofloors® vertically movable floors enable the client to exploit the surface area of a swimming pool by converting the associated terrace or indoor pool room for other uses e.g. recreation, social events, for dining and dancing.

The system is near invisible, flexible, rapidly adaptable and safe, being in compliance with relevant national safety standards. The concept is that the floor height of the pool may be elevated to set at any pre-selected water depth such as wading depth for children or a depth suited to those with special needs. This makes the pool itself diverse and multifunctional

The highest elevated position of the floor is that of the pool surround, at which point the water is out of sight beneath the floor. When fully elevated, the entire area becomes totally safe and secure for children to use. Additionally, since the pool is fully closed, energy costs for heating are greatly reduced.

Boombox Freeview DVD Projector

jamboxprojector Boombox Freeview DVD Projector

Watching TV and movies on the big screen usually requires a TV and a big screen, neither of which is particularly portable. But thanks to the jaw-droppingly impressive Boombox Freeview DVD Projector you can do both without strapping a telly to your back.

The clue’s in the name because despite looking like Darth Vader’s boombox crossed with a pair of Bono’s most ludicrous shades, this all-in-one cinema/entertainment system projects DVDs and Freeview TV onto any flat surface you fancy.

Ironing board with integrated fan and two settings, inflation or suction

ironing board

We’re delighted to introduce the Leifheit StarLine Airbase, the next generation of ironing board. Set to revolutionise ironing, saving you time at the board and giving perfect results, we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw how it worked, and you won’t either. Its secret is an integrated fan hidden inside, just plug the board into the mains – yes, plug it in, and choose between suction or inflation mode.

When the board is in suction mode:

  • it holds garments in place, preventing wrinkling to give perfect, crease-free ironing
  • unlike traditional irons where steam condenses, leaving clothes damp, excess steam is drawn down through the board so clothes stay dry, ready to be hung away.

Flick the switch to inflation mode and:

  • the fan blows air upwards through the board, causing delicate garments to balloon so you can hover your iron over the surface to steam creases out without contact
  • it’s ideal for smoothing out fiddly areas like collars, cuffs and darts
  • with no condensation, once ironed, items are left bone-dry with no danger of re-wrinkling.

The steam-permeable, machine-washable cotton cover has special foam padding, a pull-cord and a tension clip for a wrinkle-free fit.

The central column telescopes out in three stages to take advantage of the wind and the feet and wire guys keep it nice and steady. The base of the central column stores the wires and the batteries and although it’s made of lightweight materials like carbon fiber and aluminum, it will take two or three people to move and set up.
