Solar Powered Golf Cart
Posted by Daoco in Gadgets, Great Ideas, Solar Power on April 9, 2011

This is the electric golf cart that has an array of 72 photovoltaic cells built into the roof that collect solar energy, providing up to 33% more range between recharges than non-solar electric golf carts. The cart’s 160-watt array produces up to three amps per hour for its 48-volt rechargeable battery system, providing a range of up to 49 miles–approximately 10 rounds of golf–before requiring a full recharge (overnight via its 6′ long AC adapter; 15 hours via its solar array). The array also extends the life of the battery system by 60% more than other electric golf carts. Its 5 1/2-hp electric motor and 19-spline rear axle provides a maximum speed of 24 MPH and is powerful enough to enable the cart to climb a 28° incline when fully loaded with two passengers and golf bags, supporting up to 755 lbs. The cart uses rack and pinion steering, leaf springs, and heavy shock suspension to provide a smooth, even ride on its rugged 8″ pneumatic tires. A built-in speed controller allows you to limit the maximum speed, and its self-adjusting drum brakes provide reliable stopping. Includes a two-person seat with vinyl upholstery, four cup holders, and straps for securing two golf bags.

Shadow Caddy – A Better Way to Play Golf™
Shadow Caddy is a completely new golfing product. It is a robotic caddy that faithfully follows you around the course, carrying your bags just like a human caddy. Simply settle your bag on your Shadow Caddy and off you go, free to enjoy your walk and concentrate on your game without the distraction of dragging your clubs around or fiddling with remote controls.
The result is, undoubtedly, a better way to play golf.
Completely hands free
Unlike other electric golf carts, Shadow Caddy does not work by remote control. Instead, it follows a small transmitter attached to your belt. This means that there are no joysticks to deal with – it is completely hands free.
